Why I Created a Coin/Relic Display Website

Why I Created a Coin/Relic Display Website

Why Coin/Relic Displays?

Since 2016, I’ve been an avid metal detectorist and treasure hunter. What started as a hobby quickly turned into something much deeper—a connection to history that you simply can’t get any other way. Every coin, every relic, every artifact pulled from the ground carries a story. Holding something that hasn’t been touched in decades—or even centuries—is an experience that never gets old.

Over the years, I’ve built a collection of historical coins and relics that I’m incredibly proud of. But like many collectors, I ran into a problem: how do you properly display these pieces in a way that actually honors their history?

Bringing History Back to Life

For me, metal detecting isn’t just about finding objects—it’s about reconnecting with the past. Each item represents a real moment in time, a real person, a real story. I wanted a way to display my finds that reflected that meaning.

Traditional displays felt too generic. They hold items, but they don’t tell their story.

That’s when the idea for Republic Displays began.

Instead of simply placing a coin or relic into a case, I wanted to create something that interacts with the piece—something that visually ties it back to its origin and significance.

For example:

  • A Seated Lady Liberty display actually holding a Seated Liberty coin

  • A Civil War dragoon soldier holding a period dragoon button

  • Displays designed to reflect the era, purpose, and identity of each item

The goal was simple: don’t just display the item—bring its history back into view.

Where It All Started

In not knowing much about 3D printing my own designs, I attempted to put together a display specifically for that coin. (You can see the poor quality and failure to pay attention to detail in this picture below) Something that would highlight its importance and give it the presence it deserved. That project became what I now call my “Lizzy” display—and it marked the beginning of Republic Displays.

Turning an Idea Into Reality

Once I finalized the design and figured out how to bring it to life through 3D printing, I decided to share the display on social media.

The response was incredible.

Almost immediately, I started receiving messages:

  • “Can you make one for this coin?”

  • “What about this relic?”

  • “Could you design something for a shoe buckle? A belt plate?”

That’s when it clicked—the possibilities were endless.

What started as a personal project quickly became something much bigger. There was a real demand in the metal detecting and treasure hunting community for displays that go beyond storage—displays that actually mean something.

Why I Do This

Republic Displays exists because of that community.

This isn’t just about creating products—it’s about helping others showcase their discoveries in a way that respects their history and significance. Every coin and relic has a story, and it’s an honor to play a small role in how those stories are told.

I’m incredibly grateful for the trust people place in me to display their finds. It’s something I don’t take lightly.

As long as detectorists and treasure hunters continue to share their discoveries and trust me with their pieces, I’ll continue creating displays that bring those lost treasures back to life.

Because these aren’t just objects—they’re history. BECAUSE EVERY RELIC DESERVES A STAGE.
